COVID-19 Updates

Dear Members:

As of 2:52 pm, 11-17-2020, Governor Pritzker announced that all of Illinois’ regions are being moved to the Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigation Plan.  This plan is scheduled to go into effect Friday, November 20, 2020 at 12:01 am.  We at WSC are working to ensure we are following all guidelines. In the event that you do not feel safe utilizing the facility please contact the complex to have your membership placed on suspension.  Failure to do this will result in non-refundable charges to your account.

The plan’s mitigation and how it affects Richard E Workman Sports and Wellness Center is as follows:

  • Health and Fitness Centers

    • Operate at no more than 25% capacity

All members MUST check/scan in at the front desk.  Failure to do so may result in being asked to leave to ensure limits are not exceeded.  At this time, day passes will not be offered for non-members to ensure the facility is available for members’ use.

  • No indoor group classes

WSC is committed to providing exceptional instructor-led programming.  We will

be meeting with the instructors and identifying other exercise options – Facebook

Live; Zoom; Individual Workout Challenges.  Please stay tuned for additional

information.

Personal one-on-one training is still available to individuals.  WSC is developing

a price package that will be only available during the resurgence mitigation.

  • Face coverings must be worn, including while engaged in individual exercise regardless of person or machine spacing.

Per the CDC guidelines, WSC has previously asked members to wear a mask

when not exercising and when dealing with staff.  The mitigation now requires a

mask at all times.

  • Reservations required

Phone reservations will be needed for the lap pool only.  WSC will monitor

capacity limits by people checking in at the front desk.  Failure to check in may

result in being asked to leave to ensure limits are not exceeded.

  • Locker room areas should be closed

Although the mitigation order suggests closing locker and changing rooms, to serve our members who rely on the showers and those areas, WSC will keep the locker rooms open with capacity limits, and will perform five deep cleanse a day.

  • Organized Group Recreational Activities

    • Pause all indoor group sporting and recreational activities including youth and adult recreational sports, individual training may remain (with facility reservation).

Effective November 20, 2020 Richard E. Workman Sports Complex and Wellness Center will pause Fishing 101; Youth Strength and Conditioning; Boat Club; swim lessons and swim team.  These activities will be rescheduled once the mitigation is lifted.  WBL is still scheduled to start on January 9, 2021.

Courts will remain open for individual use only.  No games, and no volleyball.  Pickleball courts will stay open but with limited capacity and singles only.  No spectators allowed.

Swimming pool will be open for members only and physical therapy patients.  No recreational swimming, intentional exercise swimming only.  The guidelines are still unclear and WSC is awaiting further information.  WSC will update when available.

  • Includes park districts and travel leagues

WSC does not have any leagues currently.

  • Outdoor sports and recreation allowed

WSC is not offering any outdoor sports or recreation.

  • Participant groups and practices outdoors limited to 10 persons or less with social distancing.

WSC does not have any group practices.

  • Face coverings required for all activities.

Per the CDC guidelines, WSC has previously asked members to wear a mask

when not  exercising and when dealing with staff.  The mitigation now requires a

mask at all times.

  • Locker rooms should be closed.

Although the mitigation order suggests closing locker and changing rooms, to serve our members who rely on the showers and those areas, WSC will keep the locker rooms open with capacity limits, and will perform five deep cleanse a day.

WSC remains vigilant in providing a safe clean environment.  We will continue to keep you posted as we receive the changes.

Respectfully,

Patti Smith
